3 Ways to Practice Wisdom

Christmas is the greatest story ever told!

It’s God sending his son Jesus to redeem us, free us, and take us home with Him. This is what we’re made for, to be with God forever. This is why we were made. In Him we live, we move and we have our being.

Jesus is the greatest gift we could ever have!

In the Christmas story, we see magi or wise men that came from the east to bring Him gifts and to worship Him.

“1. Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, 2. “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”

Matthew‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭2‬

They are a fixture in nativity scenes and plays all over the world. Their presence in the story speaks to so many things that apply to our lives today.

These wise men were wise because they sought Jesus.

Wisdom comes from God and when we give our lives to him, we can have it. This is so vital that King Solomon said this about it,

“How much better to get wisdom than gold, and good judgment than silver!”

Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭16‬

Notice wisdom’s value is beyond money, it’s Godly.

As leaders, we must determine to be people of wisdom and practice it in our lives. This applies to family, schedules, business, leading ourselves, leading others, diet, exercise, marriage, friendships, and more.

When we walk in wisdom, all these things will benefit us and be the best they can be.

So, here are 3 ways to practice wisdom.

1st – Fear God

“Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.”

Proverbs‬ ‭9‬:‭10‬

Fear of the Lord is not a phobia, but rather a reverence for who He is. This reflects worship and awe of Him being God.

From this is the foundation of wisdom. My encouragement this Christmas season is to grow in your reverence of God. Give Him your heart and worship Him.

What you need for life and leadership is found in Him. Everything in our lives will benefit when we do this. He’s God and we need more and more.

Make him number one. Wisdom begins and expands from Him.

2nd – Choose the Right Friends

“Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.”

‭Proverbs‬ ‭13‬:‭20‬

Notice, wisdom is shared and foolishness is too.

When we’re with wise people, it rubs off on us and we grow in wisdom. This is huge for leaders because we grow when we’re with the right people.

Conversely, when we’re with the wrong people, it rubs off too and we can grow in foolishness.

We don’t have time to waste on the wrong relationships. It was too expensive. Choose to be with leaders who are wise by putting God first and who are growing in their lives.

When you’re around these types of people, this will happen to you too.

3rd – Be Patient With Decisions

“Plans succeed through good counsel; don’t go to war without wise advice.”

Proverbs‬ ‭20‬:‭18‬

Notice that success and good counsel go together. This is huge for leaders because when we’re patient, great things can happen. When we have wise people in our lives, success can happen.

The key is that we’re patient!

This can be a challenge because at the moment we want things done and to move on. But this can be disastrous if we’re in a hurry.

Leaders must think of chess and not checkers. One moves impacts the next three to five moves. Therefore, we choose to walk in wisdom by being patient with our decisions.

I encourage you today, to choose wisdom daily.

Choose Jesus and let Him be the leader in every aspect of your life. With Him, it always gets better. When we walk in wisdom, we can see Godly results with lasting success.

This is for, you when you practice wisdom.

Have a great Christmas and the best is yet to come,

PD
