two hands reaching out to each other

Big World, Big God, Big Reach

BIG doesn’t bother God because everything about Him is BIG.

He made the world and everything we see and don’t see. His genius design created everything with specific details that allowed it to thrive perpetually.

Furthermore, there are eight billion people on the planet, and God made them with exact details. He knows their names, the number of hairs on their heads, the layout of their thumbprints, and their potential. He gave it to them!

The magnitude of this shows how BIG God is. He loves us individually and as humanity at the same time.

His love is BIG, His heart is BIG, His plan is BIG, His ways are BIG, and His church is BIG!

The idea of BIG isn’t bad, it’s good and we should embrace it as followers of Jesus.

Debating God’s intent of small church versus big church is tragic and off-course. There’s a BIG world with a lot of lost and hurting people.

Our focus shouldn’t be on big or small, but rather on how God can enlarge us as Christ’s followers and leaders. It’s more Holy Spirit, more people, more growth, more giving, more reaching, and more loving.

But here’s the problem, the harvest or number of people is huge, but the laborers are few.

”37. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”‬

Matthew‬ ‭9‬:‭37‬-‭38

This is an insight into the heart of Jesus to reach people and an insight into how we should pray.

Having BIG churches is NO issue to God; the issue is the lack of people reaching for those around them.

This is BIG!

The mindset of the church must shift and link up with Jesus in what He cares about and who He cares about. People, people, people!

We ALL have people in our world who can be reached by Him.

He reaches them through us!

So, here are two ways we can be a worker with Jesus.

1st – See people.

Who is around you? They are there on purpose, and it’s our part to see them. When we see them, we begin to love them, care for them, and get out of our world and get into their world.

Someone saw us and now we must see others.

Who can we serve? Who can we show Jesus to by the way we live? Who can we engage with and show them Jesus?

Jesus said to pray for Him to send more workers in these areas. So our response must be, “Jesus, send me.”

Knowing the Bible and doing nothing is wrong. Knowing doctrine and doing nothing is wrong. Receiving the love of God and not giving it away, is wrong. Receiving the mercy of God and giving it away is wrong. Receiving Jesus and not giving Him away is wrong.

We can’t afford to be modern-day Sadducees and Pharisees who know the scripture but DON’T know God. Who knows the scripture but keeps people out of the church? Who knows the scripture but makes it hard for others to come to Jesus?

This can’t be! We must see people.

2nd – Remember what we would be.

When we remember what we would be, it’s a good thing. We need to do this because as Christ followers, we’re NOT better than others and we’re NOT above them.

The only difference is that we are changed by the grace of God!

When we remember we begin to look at others with compassion and connect with them where they are.

This comes from humility. When we remember what we would be, there’s a humility that comes to us because we realize that Jesus recused our lives. He saved us!

Which empowers us to give what we have to others in a way they can receive it and have it.

To remember is vital because the Bible says it is possible to forget and then lack what we need.

“But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.”

2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬

Let’s NOT forget!

Let’s remember and begin to reach others because Jesus had someone else reach for us!

This is a BIG world, we serve a BIG God and He has a BIG reach. He’s asking us to be a part of the solution and embrace His BIG heart for others.

We need churches to grow. We need churches to be BIG. We need people to come to Jesus!

God needs us to be a worker with Him and make a difference!!

God wants to use you in a BIG way! Go for it and see what He can do through you!

Have a great day and the best is yet to come,

PD
