Change The World, One Person At a Time
The world can be changed! We’ve seen it, in our lifetime, through inventions like the iPhone, Amazon, Uber, and social media.
Some of these changes have made the world better and others worse. But it’s been changed!
Jesus changed the world too and He used ordinary people to do it. Since Jesus was born, died, rose from the dead, and on the day of Pentecost, the world has never been the same.
Governments can’t stop Him, Ideologies can’t drown out His message, and cultures can’t ignore Him. He’s Jesus the light of the world!
That’s a big light and it keeps growing and expanding.
The purpose of Jesus is clear and simple.
“16. For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”
John 3:16-17.
Now we are the light of the world through Jesus and we are called to make His purpose clear and simple.
People, people, people!
We are called to change the world one person at a time. This is why churches must want to grow, believe to grow, and be prepared to grow!!
I believe churches exist to make it easy for lost people to come to Jesus. Period!
We’re called to reach out beyond the walls of our hearts and buildings to be and do what Jesus called us to be. We can’t afford to shrink back in the nonsense of church arguments, debates, philosophies, styles, and power struggles.
God has called us to do more! He’s called to change the world, one person at a time!
When churches are healthy, growing, strong, reaching out, giving, sacrificing, praying, serving, and loving cities are better and people are better. This is what God wants and this is what He intended.
The devil wants churches unhealthy, shrinking, weak, selfish, divided, judgmental, and territorial. Sadly, too many churches are in this category and they whither and die.
But we choose to change the world one person at a time, by doing what He said to do!
So, here are three things growing churches do.
1st – They reach people.
One of our staff members said this in our chapel,
“God never asked the world to come to church, but He asks the church to go to the world.”
Notice we’re called to go to them. Which means we initiate, we connect and we go to them. This is BIG and it’s the heart of God.
We’re called to go!
This happens through outreach initiatives, individually inviting people, and serving the city, at large.
We go to them by being proactive in the love of God.
People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care!!
2nd – They serve others.
Healthy serves those coming to the church and those that don’t. This is an attitude of the heart and only Jesus does this in us.
Serving others is how we impact them and it’s how we confuse a hardened heart. Serving opens people up and brings healing. It also gives a place of safety and growth.
Serving people are growing people and serving churches are growing churches. When it’s all about ourselves, we shrink. When it’s about others we grow.
Jesus came to serve and that’s what we’re called to do too.
I ask you, how can you serve your church today? How can you serve your city?
We can change the world one person at a time as we serve them one person at a time.
3rd – They’re givers.
Generosity meets the needs of others and gives vision resources. Churches that are givers grow and receive miracle blessings in return.
Giving churches connect with the needs of others and have compassion for their needs. This is where the love of God is tangible and it’s where miracles happen.
I’ve learned this over the years, whatever happens through faith requires us to be proactive and a part of something bigger than ourselves.
What is God asking you to give?
The blessing is in the giving for individuals and churches. I encourage you today to choose to be a giver and change the world one person at a time.
Growth is good and big is not bad. We can change the world one person at a time! So let’s go and do our part. Jesus is coming and He’s reaching for people every day. He’s ready! Let’s be ready too!
Have a great day and may God use you greatly,
PD
