What can our church do if?
What do you want to be when you grow up?
This famous question is asked to all of us and the answers vary and change over time. For many, what they become is not the answer they gave but the reason why this question is endearing is because it brings out big dreams and innocence.
When we ask this question to our kids, we are drawn in by their sincerity and belief in what they can be.
But somewhere along the way we think more than we dream, and everything changes.
Of course, there’s reality and practicality with life and what we need to do as we move forward. But, while we realize this, we must include our dreams so our faith can believe that God can do something great through us.
This connects to what Jesus said in Matthew 18:3,
“Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Matthew 18:3
When we have childlike faith, it gives God the chance to work in our lives. It also gives God a chance to work in our church too!
What if we ask the question, what can our church do IF?
This requires us to dream big and reach up to God. With Him, anything can happen. Without Him, nothing will happen.
Jesus wants our faith unlocked in dreaming of what He can do, and then acting in faith that He will do it!
Someone has to step out for God to walk through!
When we dream big and reach up, our dependence is on Him and we think beyond the four walls of the buildings we worship in.
God is bigger than our buildings and He wants our dreams to be bigger than our buildings too.
Unfortunately, too many churches are arguing over carpet color, worship style, discipleship versus evangelism, preaching styles, service length, and should the church be big or small, to dream beyond the four walls.
But for those who choose to dream big and reach up, God can enlarge them and do beyond what they ask or think.
“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
Ephesians 3:20
God thinks beyond the four walls of our church buildings and thinks about the next generation coming. The question is, will we think about them too?
When we answer the question, what can our church do IF? We think about the next generation and how we will empower them and raise them up.
We will think about transition and how the church will thrive generationally. We will think beyond the four walls and consider what’s coming and what can be.
Our challenge is to receive childlike faith and dare to dream big and reach up for God to move again.
What can our church do IF?
Everyone served and was a part of the dream team.
Everyone came to pray monthly, weekly, and daily.
Everyone gave tithes and offerings and honored God with their finances.
Everyone brought someone to church and led someone to Jesus. Everyone chose unity over division.
Everyone chose to overcome offense versus being overwhelmed by offense.
Everyone forgave each other and served each other.
Everyone would pray for their Pastors and staff.
Everyone would love Jesus and love people the best they could.
Think about this church and what it could do.
So, why not us, and why not our church?
The time is here for us to dream big and reach up to God for our lives and our churches. It’s time to think big, dream big, pray big, give big, believe big, and reach up, seeing what He can do!
Join the movement and be a part of something bigger than yourself.
Jesus will use you and the best life is His life shown through us!
Go for it! Dream big and reach up.
