The Gift That Keeps On Giving
Christmas is in seven days! Are you ready?
Christmas is a great time to love family and friends as we celebrate Christ! One of the traditions we all love is the GIFTS we receive and the gifts we give too!!
Have you ever received a special gift or a funny gift?
I hope we all have had the chance to take advantage of this opportunity. These moments make for great memories that bring a smile to others for years to come.
God gave us the greatest gift in Jesus and from Him, the church began and was established. But this gift wasn’t a one-time thing. He’s still revealing himself today because He doesn’t change!
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8
This is why He’s the gift that keeps on giving.
The question is, what is He giving today?
Isaiah describes this gift in a prophecy he gave seven hundred years before Jesus was born.
“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6
This verse reveals who Jesus is and what He’s doing today. This speaks to us individually and collectively as His church.
He gives these things today because He’s the gift that keeps on giving.
1st – He’s wonderful. This means a miracle, a marvelous thing a wonder.
I love this because Jesus is Supernatural and can do anything for people. He is the miracle of life, of hope, and of redemption.
He is the miracle that changes everything for us!!
2nd – He’s our counselor. This means to advise, deliberate, resolve, guide, and purpose.
Jesus will be the Counselor we need in any matter of our lives. He can advise us in life, of the heart, and more. He can resolve our turmoil, and heal our past, present, and future. He will guide us into places of purpose and provision with fulfillment.
3rd – He is our mighty God. This means He is a powerful, warrior, and champion.
He’s the champion of Heaven. He’ll be the champion of your life. He can win any battle in your life and defeat any foe you face.
Jesus is the people’s champ and He calls us, more than conquerors.
4th – He is the Everlasting Father. This means He is Forever, Eternal, and a world with No End.
God is forever! His fatherhood is both for now and eternal. He’s a loving father in our everyday life. He will be a loving father in Heaven because He forever loves you!
We have a Father who never leaves us nor forsake us.
5th – He is our prince of peace. This means as the head person, Captain, General, Governor, keeper, and Ruler.
He is the Captain of our lives when we give our hearts to Him. Meaning He is leading us through all storms of life into His Peace
Everywhere He leads us into His Peace because He is the Ruler of it! Peace is what follows Him, and it’s what He gives to us.
Which of these do you need this Christmas season?
He’s willing and able to do great things in you and through you.
Since Jesus is the gift that keeps on giving these things, His church should be vibrant with radiant hope, faith, and acts of love. The gift of Jesus is alive; therefore, His people be alive too
Alive in faith! Believing that Jesus is moving right now.
All five of these aspects of Jesus are needed and relevant today. We ALL need Jesus and when He shows up, God things happen.
Since the gift from God is alive, He wants His church to be alive. He wants it to thrive, growing and maturing in His love, fruit, and ways. He wants us to receive His gift and then share it with others.
This posture with Jesus ignites us to be living evidence that He is the gift that keeps on giving.
So this Christmas I pray you have Jesus, know Jesus, and experience Jesus! I pray you receive the gift that keeps on giving and that your prayers are answered.
Our part is to ask to receive it, and He will give it!
Whatever you need today, ask and receive it. Be a part of a church that makes Jesus famous! The time is now!
May this Christmas be the best one yet for you and your family!
Merry Christmas and the best is yet to come!
