The True Meaning of Christmas
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
The Light That Entered the World
Christmas is far more than a season filled with lights, gifts, and familiar songs. It is the celebration of God’s greatest gift to humanity, Jesus Christ. More than 700 years before His birth, the prophet Isaiah spoke words of hope that would echo through generations, pointing to a Savior who would change the world forever.
In a world longing for peace, direction, and stability, this prophecy still shines with timeless truth. The birth of Jesus marked the dawn of redemption, the moment when light broke through humanity’s deepest darkness. Every twinkling Christmas light is a reminder of the true Light who entered the world to bring hope, peace, and joy.
“A Child Is Born to Us” — God’s Gift of Grace
At the heart of Christmas are two powerful words: “to us.” Christmas reminds us that God didn’t send a solution, He sent a Savior. Jesus was given personally and intentionally.
Christmas is not ultimately about what we give; it is about what we have received through Christ: grace, mercy, forgiveness, and new life. When we gather as families and exchange gifts, we reflect the generous heart of God. Every act of giving becomes an opportunity to point back to the greatest Giver of all.
Christmas reminds us that God didn’t send a solution, He sent a Savior.
“The Government Will Rest on His Shoulders” — Hope That Endures
The baby in the manger is also the King of kings. While earthly governments rise and fall, the authority of Jesus remains unshaken. His rule brings order where there is chaos and peace where there is fear.
This truth is especially comforting in uncertain times. No matter what unfolds around us, Jesus reigns. His shoulders are strong enough to carry the weight of the world and gentle enough to carry the burdens of our hearts.
His Name Shall Be Called…
Wonderful Counselor
Jesus offers wisdom that comforts and directs. When life feels confusing or painful, His voice brings clarity and peace. He listens, guides, and understands every heartache.
Mighty God
Christmas reminds us that God’s power is not distant, it came close. The infant in the manger is the Creator of heaven and earth. His might is wrapped in humility, revealing that true power serves with love.
Everlasting Father
Through Jesus, we are welcomed into God’s family. His love is constant and unchanging. No matter how far we wander, His arms remain open. This is the true warmth of Christmas, the eternal love of our Father.
Prince of Peace
In a world filled with anxiety and division, Jesus offers peace that surpasses understanding. His peace is not dependent on circumstances; it flows from His presence. When we invite the Prince of Peace into our hearts and homes, Christmas becomes more than a celebration, it becomes a transformation.
Keeping Christ at the Center of Christmas
As families, churches, and communities, let us intentionally center this season on Christ. Before the wrapping paper, gatherings, and meals, pause to read Isaiah 9:6 together. Reflect on who Jesus is and what His coming means for your life today.
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to keep Christ at the center of your Christmas, we invite you to join us for our Christmas service at City Church For All Nations.
Whether you’re attending in person or watching online, our prayer is that you experience the hope, peace, and presence of Jesus this season.
