Open Heart

A Leaders Open Heart, and a BIG God

God is BIG!

He’s so big the prophet Isaiah said this,

”This is what the Lord says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that? Could you build me such a resting place?“

Isaiah‬ ‭66‬:‭1‬

He’s all-knowing, He’s everywhere and He’s all-powerful. So there’s nothing He doesn’t know and there’s nothing He can’t do. He rules the heavens and the earth by His great power, and He chooses to be a part of our lives.

This is profound for us to remember because it frames our faith in who God is and what He can do.

If we’re not intentional the ebbs and flow of life can cover this truth with struggles, problems, pain, and more. Walking through these things can make God look small and our issues big. When this happens, it’s easy to forget that Jesus came to do the works of God and that He still does them today.

This is especially true for leaders. The responsibility of leading is a lot, and the path of leadership puts us in the line of fire. This is why Christ-centered leaders must remember that without Jesus, we’re in trouble. We need Him and He’s our source of strength to succeed. No matter what we go through as leaders, God is BIG.

But when we remember our God is BIG, we have the perspective that our problems are small before Him. He’s greater, He’s bigger, He’s stronger, He’s able and He’s willing to move and make a way for us.

Our challenge is to have an open heart before God so that our faith can reach up and touch Him.

We need God’s power and God uses man’s power to accomplish His work in the earth. Which is why He’s looking for people who will believe and remember that He is BIG. He’s looking for leaders that develop their leadership skills and have an open heart to Him.

A living faith believes He can do something NOW. That He can move NOW. That He can change something NOW. This is right now faith which expands our expectation of what He can do and will do!

He’s ready to show who He is and what He can do.

”But the Lord is in his holy Temple; the Lord still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth.“

Psalms‬ ‭11‬:‭4‬

Notice that God is watching everyone and examining them. He’s looking at our hearts to see what we’re doing through our leadership efforts. He cares about how we navigate what comes at us and the things that come from within us.

He wants to do miracles in our lives and He begins by causing us to have an open heart.

It’s letting Jesus cleanse us from the things that hinder Him in our lives. Uncontrolled anger, lust, jealousy, unbelief, criticism, hate, envy, disappointment, lying, selfishness, manipulation, pride, stubbornness and more.

We all deal with something in our hearts that Jesus wants to heal, cleanse, and remove. So the question is, will we have an open heart? This doesn’t mean we’re perfect but it does mean we’re healthy.

When our hearts are open to God we’re humble, willing, loving, changing, growing, healing, forgiving, apologizing, praying, worshiping, giving, serving, tenderhearted, and peaceful.

God is BIG, but if our hearts are closed, we’re blocking what He can do and be in us. He’s ready and willing, our part is to have an open heart that He can move through, speak through, and touch through.

God is ready and life is too short to waste blaming God for the things He’s trying to heal and redeem. Now is the time to serve the Lord, see the Lord, and have the Lord move in BIG ways through us.

So, here are two things we can do as a leader to have an open heart.

1st – Worship God.

Worshiping God acknowledges Him as God. Worship also opens our hearts to Him. This is massive in our faith and it must be something we do daily. This is both an act of singing with physical expression along with our lifestyle.

These are ways to worship Him and have our hearts be open to Him.

What and who we worship is what we become like. So worshiping Jesus changes us into who He wants us to be.

This is how our hearts can be open to God for Him to move and do the BIG things He desires to do.

2nd – Make a prayer list.

What we pray about, is what God thinks about it. That’s right when we lift up requests about people and situations, they come before Him and He thinks about them.

This is why we must lift up by name our neighbors, co-workers, friends, and more because it could be, that we’re the only ones praying for them.

Prayer gives God the chance to be BIG in our lives. Prayer also helps our hearts open to God so He can move through it.

So as we enter the Easter season this month, be determined to worship and pray to Jesus. Open your heart, we have a BIG God!

God is with you and the best is yet to come!
