A security doorknob

A Protected House

Safety is one of the eight basic needs we have to thrive in our lives. When we’re safe, other things can happen. For our families, safety is paramount.

This means we’re safe physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and more. Families need to be safe so that they can be healthy and leave a legacy that makes a difference.

The good news is, God is our protector. This is one of His qualities that He promises to provide for His people.

“This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.”

Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭2‬

Notice that God’s place is one of safety!

When we follow Jesus, we can be safe and have a protected house.

I believe in 2025 we need to focus on having a protected house. There is too much craziness going on in the world for us to be unsafe. God does His part and we must do our part. This speaks of a proactive faith that gives God something to work with.

Unfortunately, too many families are NOT safe and the results are devastating. But when we have a protected house the results are amazing!

1st – Have Jesus be the center of your family.

This means that we revolve around God, versus God revolving around us. There is a big difference.

When God is the center, things become in order and we are focused on doing life His way.

To do this we must be intentional in our faith as

Furthermore, this is what we build our family on as the foundation of our lives.

A practical step is to have a plan to pray and read the Bible daily. Give attention to feeding your spirit with God’s word and prayer to connect you to His voice.

You do this with a plan. Please take the time to develop a plan so you can be successful with these efforts.

To have a protected house, Jesus must be the center.

2nd – Make church a rhythm in your life.

This is huge for families. When being in a healthy church is a rhythm in our lives, our family is better.

We have a pathway to worship with others, serve beyond ourselves, and give to God’s house. The benefits go way beyond what we see or feel in the moment.

It’s great for our kids to have a Kids’ Pastor, for our teens to have a Youth Pastor, and for us to have a Pastor too. There’s something strong about having layered leadership and support for our families. It helps us have a protected house.

I encourage you to take your next step in a local healthy church. It’s time! Move through offense, misunderstandings, and disappointments. There’s something great on the other side.

3rd – Have family time together weekly.

Having family time together is massive since most families don’t have dinner together, hang out together, or have meaningful conversations. This is a recipe for disaster because if we don’t take time together, the wrong influences will fill that gap and bring division. This is an easy way of how our homes can become unsafe.

So we must make time, and take time to be together.

When we talk about nothing with our kids, they will talk to us about something when it counts. This requires consistent communication and investment of time and love.

These are three things we can do to have a protected house.

I pray 2025 is the best year for you and your family.

God is with you and the best is yet to come!
