Signs of a Healthy Home

When someone is healthy, there are signs that reflect it. Being active, having healthy functions of organs, and being energized daily to name a few.

So we can see the evidence of health.

This is intriguing because who we are is what we produce and who we worship is what we become like.

This is what the Bible says happened with the disciples.

“And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.”

Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭20‬

Notice that signs followed them as a natural output of their connection to Jesus. They preached and signs followed. It was a result of who they were in Christ and what they had in Him.

This is the same reality for a healthy home. Signs follow it!

When we let Jesus change us, what we produce becomes what He wants. When we worship Jesus with our lives, we become closer to Him and more like Him. This is reflected in our ways and thought patterns. This is what Jesus does in our lives and homes when we worship Him.

I’m sure there are many, but here are three that are BIG for any family. It’s what is needed today and we must be intentional to have it.

1st – They TRUST each other.

Trust is earned through consistent patterns and behaviors. Trust is NOT owed to us, we earn it by the way we live and in who we are through our actions. This is true for families and it may be the greatest area of trust.

This is because our immediate family sees us in the good, bad, and the ugly. So no pretense or performance can be done to impress them.

Therefore, building trust through humility is the key to having strong bonds that last. This happens by being intentional in being together, connecting consistently, and having good patterns.

Trust covers each other, confronts each other, and comforts each other. It provides safety for us to be real and open, which we all need.

Trust is huge and we must be intentional to have this!

2nd – They TALK to each other.

Trust is connected through communication. It’s the precursor to talking. So as we build trust, the next sign is talking.

Everyone talks to someone. If they’re not talking to you, then who is it? This is why developing a safe place to talk is HUGE for a family.

When we talk to each other, we’re serving, loving, covering, helping, and coming alongside our family members. This does not happen automatically, it’s developed and nurtured over time. It grows in depth as we get older and navigate adult things.

I started this when my kids were small by talking about nonsense topics. I knew that would lay the foundation of what was ahead.

When we talk to our kids about nothing, they will talk to us about something!

Healthy families talk to each other because they trust each other.

3rd – They LAUGH together.

Healthy families laugh with each other and at themselves. Laughter is healthy when it’s not mocking people or making fun of others.

But we can laugh with people and enjoy moments together. When we’re able to laugh together it bonds us and makes a memory. When we’re able to laugh at ourselves it shows confidence, security, and safety.

This is a BIG sign of health in a family.

This is the genius of God in making us healthier when we laugh.

I encourage you to laugh more as a family. Have fun. Make memories and enjoy each other. The time is now.

These are three signs of a healthy home.

Be intentional about it. Let God move in new ways in your family. God has great things planned for your family and one of them is being healthy!

In Jesus, you can do this!

Have a great day and the best is yet to come!
