When Is Jesus Coming?

This is a question many people are asking right now. Christians, churches, even news outlets and movies are talking more about the end times. There’s a rise in conversations, media, and even fear around this topic.

People are wondering: Are we living in the last days?

Looking at what the Bible says and what’s happening in the world, it’s clear—Jesus is coming back.

But that leads to another question…

Why Is He Taking So Long?

Over time, many have tried to predict when Jesus will return, but all of those guesses have been wrong. As followers of Jesus, it’s easy to wonder: What’s the delay?

Instead of asking “When is He coming back?”—maybe we should ask,
“What is He waiting for?”

The Bible gives us the answer:

But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent.

2 Peter 3:8–9

God isn’t late—He’s patient.
He’s giving people time to be saved.
That’s His heart.

God’s Heart Is for People

God wants every person to know Him—even though not everyone will choose Him. That’s what Jesus is waiting on: for more people to say yes to Him.

And if that’s His focus, it should be ours too.

When we love Jesus, we love people. We help them see who He is. That’s why every Christian and every church is called to grow—not just in size, but in how we reach others for Jesus.

At City Church, we say it like this:
We count people because people count.

The Church Has a Mission

This isn’t just about numbers—it’s about souls.
It’s about real people meeting Jesus, being changed by Him, and becoming His followers.

That’s why we build bigger spaces. That’s why we grow teams. That’s why we keep reaching.

Jesus is after hearts. All people. No matter their past, beliefs, or background—He’s reaching for them.

He’s even delaying His return so that more people can have the chance to live with Him forever.

Jesus is after hearts. All people. No matter their past, beliefs, or background—He’s reaching for them.

Let’s Not Miss the Moment

This is not the time to argue about theology or judge other churches.
This is the time to reach people.

Let’s not get distracted by small things.
Let’s not try to “be right” while missing the chance to show others who Jesus is.

Instead, let’s stay focused:

  • Look at your neighborhood.
  • Think about your coworkers.
  • Pray for your friends and family.

They matter to God—and you can help reach them.

What Can You Do?

Here are three simple ways to live with purpose and help others know Jesus:

1. Lead someone to Jesus.

You can do this. Talk with someone. Pray with them. Share your story. God is with you.

2. Invite someone to church.

An invitation might feel risky—but it could change their life forever.

3. Bring someone to church.

Go the extra mile. Offer a ride. Sit with them. Grab lunch after. Help make their first step easy.

Only 2% of churchgoers invite anyone to church. That has to change—and you can help.

So, When Is Jesus Coming?

No one knows the exact time.
But we do know what He’s waiting for:
More people to be saved.

That truth should drive us to live with purpose and love. Let’s not just analyze the signs of the times—let’s help people be ready for His return.

We choose to love others.
We choose to serve.
We choose to build the Church together.
We choose to reach the world for Jesus.

The best is yet to come.
Let’s go reach people—for Him.
