Use What You Have

Everyone is someone to Jesus and everyone has something they can give to Jesus. When we do this, something great happens and God makes a way for us.

However, we often disqualify ourselves based on comparison, self-doubt, our pain, our story, our mistakes, and more. We can easily think that He uses talent and special abilities to do great things. While this is true, it doesn’t eliminate us.

You see God uses the weak things to confound the wise and He uses our mess to be turned into a message that reflects who Jesus is.

”Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.“

1 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬

This is a mystery in the Kingdom of God because only Jesus takes our weaknesses and gives us strength from them. This is why we all can use what we have and watch God do what we can’t.

This is exactly what happened to Moses. They were standing on the edge of the Red Sea, being hunted down by the Egyptian army. It seemed they were trapped but God was about to make a way for them they didn’t know was there.

He tells Moses to stretch out his rod and see the salvation of the Lord.

”14. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” 15. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! 16. Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground.“

Exodus‬ ‭14‬:‭14‬-‭16‬

Notice how God led Moses to use what he had to engage with the miracle God had for them.

This is important because when we use what we have, we’re releasing our faith in God to move on our behalf.

This is how the Bible says God did it.

”21. Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land. 22. So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side!“

Exodus‬ ‭14‬:‭21‬-‭22‬

When Moses raised the staff in his hand, God began to move and performed one of the greatest miracles in the Bible. His people walked through the Red Sea on dry ground and the Egyptian army was defeated that day.

For us today, God is ready to do great miracles in our lives and it starts when we use what we have!

God is the Way Maker and the miracle worker. We are His people whom He moves through and for. So when we release our faith, it gives Jesus the chance to move and do what we can’t do.

It may be a talent, a struggle you’re overcoming, finances, a wound that God has healed, a smile, a voice, a skill, or anything else. God can use it and make a way.

So, the question is, how do we use what we have?

1st – Give it.

We use what we have by giving it in some form. This can be serving in your local church or at an outreach center. It can be given to those in need, leading a group at church, giving your finances for His work, sharing your story of victory, forgiving someone and so much more.

Whatever it is, we must give it to use it. We have to take active steps forward with something, to ignite our faith.

Faith ignited is God’s invitation to make a way for us.

I encourage you in 2024 to use what you have. Please step out and give God a chance to move. He’s willing and he’s ready!

2nd – Walk through open doors.

Big doors swing on small hinges. Meaning, that when a door opens that God is leading us through, we need to go through it. Once we begin to share what we have, open doors will follow. Just like small hinges, our day-to-day steps and consistency are leading toward greater momentum than we know. God is with you and He’s opening doors this year.

This could be leadership opportunities, promotions, healed relationships, new beginnings, healing, ideas, and more. Whatever it is, once we give it, God is going to work to open doors for our next steps. When this happens, we must seize the moment.

We must not do this! When doors open and God is leading us through it, we must go. We can’t afford to let fear or the unknown keep us from what God has for us.

When we use what’s in our hands, God releases what’s in His hand!

So please, when you give it, be ready to go through the open door.

3rd – Be a giver.

When we use what we have, God gives us more.

This is why being a giver is so important for the health and growth of our faith, attitude, outlook, and actions.

The message version of the Bible says it this way.

”The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller.“

Proverbs‬ ‭11‬:‭24‬

Notice that being a giver is linked to growth and expansion.

When we give what we have, God uses it and then He expands it. Our part is to give it, His part is the expansion of it.

When we use what we have, others are blessed and God is empowered to expand what we have. He wants to increase our influence, opportunities, and impact so others see Jesus.

He wants to use what we have to bring glory to His name as we show what He has done. He takes pain and gives purpose. He takes the mess and gives a message. He takes brokenness and gives healing. He takes what was meant to destroy us, and uses it to form us in the person He’s called us to be.

So, this year is another opportunity to use what we have and watch God make a way for us.

Move forward, step out, and be a part of what God is doing. Let’s give him a chance to do great things!

God is with you and the best is yet to come,
PD
